Somali Relief Network of North America (SRNNA) society is hosting a bake sale Thursday, April 5th at Dalhousie from 9:00-5:00pm. The revenue of this bake-sale will be directly donated to the famine relief project for Somalia conducted by SRNNA. The aftermath of the famine is still present in Puntland, Somalia. Many people continue to lose their livestock from lack of water or rainfall which in turn caused disturbed soils, making it impossible for farming. SRNNA’s recent studies show approximately 2000 families and their livestock who live at these internally displaced camps at Uusgure, Dangorayo and Nugal villages of Puntland, Somalia. This famine relief project includes the purchases of water trucks which does not only benefit the people and their livestock but it’s also a means of irrigation channels to help grow agricultural crops.
On March 20, 2018 SRNNA distributed 15 water trucks to those needy people as a means of immediate relief, but more action needs to be done. SRNNA is a Canadian charitable organization that has continued to serve different communities since 1993 and is determined to help the most vulnerable members of the society; women, children, elderly people and their livestock.
