Don't miss this interesting and informative Lunch and Learn on "Civil infrastructure -  Material Sustainability and Corrosion Control", with presentations from two knowledgeable speakers: Presentation 1: Stuart Guest, Ph.D., P.Eng., Stantec - "Materials used in Infrastructure and Oil and Gas industries: Parallels and Lessons Learned".  Abstract: "The materials used in Infrastructure and Oil & Gas industries share many similarities; however, subtle differences in material standards, procurement specifications, and construction codes do exist. these differences may compromise the asset due to unique loading conditions or fabrication practices. There exists an opportunity to harmonize the lessons learned between the infrastructure and oil & gas industries to ensure assets achieve and exceed their design lifetimes.

Several examples will be provided for discussion." Presentation 2: Gang Li, Ph.D. Candidate, University of Saskatchewan - "Computer-aided Assessment of Arch Rehabilitation Strategies for the University Bridge". Abstract: "The University Bridge in Saskatoon is a multi-span concrete arch bridge that was commissioned in 1916. Different rehabilitation strategies (including moisture control and galvanic cathodic protection) were considered for the corroding arches of the bridge. Field test panels were assessed using numerical models and experimental data. Field data, such as moisture, oxygen content and material properties were obtained through analysis of the on-site monitoring probes and extracted concrete and rebar cores.  A subset of the field data was used to calibrate the numerical models to the arch material and environment and another subset was used for validation purposes." Cost: Members: Early Bird Rate/$35 and Regular Rate $45 Non-Members: Early Bird Rate/$45 and Regular Rate/$55 Students: Early Bird Rate/$20 and Regular Rate/$30 Sponsorships: Lunch Sponsorship: $300 x 3 (includes 2 registrations)
