The Ontario Chair for Women in Science and Engineering would like to offer you a series of three workshops on how to effectively communicate your work with diversified audiences. This workshop, created by certified world class speaking coach Teri Kingston, is tailored for women working in STEM fields who want to share their work in a way that will reach a broader audience, both in and out of the scientific community.   Overview Great science and great stories have something in common: Compelling characters overcoming obstacles to achieve a worthy outcome. Effective STEM communication, like a captivating story, should therefore integrate diverse facts into a comprehensive message, and tell the story of the research process and results in a way that is engaging and relevant to an audience.

In these workshops, you will learn to apply the TED techniques in a small group of peers. Scope of Work Working together in small groups, you will work on creating stories that explain your work in a way that the public can grasp. Story templates and the basics of effective storytelling will provide the framework for creating concrete examples. Sessions will include crafting and delivering stories in a compelling way, and avoiding barriers to effective communication. Although not mandatory, we recommend that you sign up for all three workshops. Places are limited to 9 per workshops. A second series will be offered soon for those who did not have the chance to register.
